The north African country of Algeria has enacted a controversial law that forbids anyone from distributing materials “to shake the faith of a Muslim” or to worship in unauthorized house churches. Christians comprise less than 1% of the population in Algeria, and they have seen more than half of their churches closed since January. Rachid Muhammad Essaghir, 37, faces his third trial this year on charges of evangelizing Muslims. FMI assisted in a letter from 30 U.S. senators and congressmen to the Algerian president concerning this persecution. Pray that Rachid will have the endurance to keep his eyes on Christ during this oppression.
