Persecution Update for May 2008: North Korea

North Korea continues to top the list of nations as the worst persecutor of Christians.  Over 100,000 Christians have been put in labor camps, starved, beaten, and killed.  The crime of murder is not punished as severely as owning a Bible, which is a capital offense.  Additionally, a Bible owner’s family members, for three generations, can be imprisoned.  Please remember Son Jong Nam, a Korean evangelist who has been tortured in prison for a year and a half and is facing a public death sentence.  Pray for God’s sufficient grace and strength for him as he participates in the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings.
