Persecution Update for March 2010: Algeria

During the recent Christmas season, a band of Muslims barricaded the doors of a Bible-believing church east of the capital of Algeria, cut the electrical power, stole the PA equipment, and threatened to kill the pastor.  The Muslims shouted, “This land is the land of Islam. Go pray somewhere else!” The 350 believers--all Muslims converts to Christ-- are part of the 0.3% Christian population.  The Algerian government closed 26 churches in 2008. Pray that this small beachhead for the Gospel will be used for expanding Christ’s Kingdom in the land of the Crescent.
