India is the largest democracy in the world but ranks among the top twenty nations in the persecution of Christians. Under Prime Minister Modi’s administration, attacks against pastors and churches have greatly intensified, as the current Indian government is controlled by a radical Hindu philosophy that hates the Cross and views Christianity as a Western religion. 2015 set a record as the worst year of persecution for Indian Christians in modern India’s history with at least seven pastors murdered and around 8,000 believers assaulted or severely harassed—many of those victims were women and children. Anti-Christian violence occurred at the rate of almost one per day in 2015. As an example, Hindu extremists attacked a prayer meeting in northern India just before Christmas and beat Pastor Ajmer Singh Damor unconscious. The assailants demanded that all Christian worship and conversions must cease. Please pray for faithful believers in India who proclaim Christ and plant churches where Christianity is under attack.
