Persecution Update for September 2009: Iran

(Used with permission from Elam Ministries)

Iran is an Islamic police state that mandates death for apostasy from Islam. Last March Maryam Rostampour, 27, and Marzieh Amirizadeh, 30, were put in prison and their Bibles confiscated for converting to Christianity.  After five months in prison, they appeared before a judge who threatened to have them executed.  Their reply to him was to “expedite his sentence.” The judge sent them back to prison to think it over. Pray for special grace for Maryam and Marzieh to be steadfast for Christ in a country that hates Christians.
