In the North African country of Algeria, where less than 1% of the population are followers of the Cross, Christians suffer from government discrimination. In recent years, the government has closed approximately 30 churches. Several months ago, a believer named Abdelkrim Siaghi was given a five-year prison sentence for allegedly insulting the prophet Mohammed and for illegal proselytizing. Siaghi had given a DVD about Christianity to a Muslim who requested information. Thankfully, Siaghi is not serving his prison sentence yet while his appeal is being filed, which could take months or years. Pray that God’s grace will keep Siaghi’s witness bold under persecution.
