of $30,000 goal
The Lord has led me to work with Frontline Missions International in East Asia for the next two years. While there, I will teach English to university students, work on my language skills, grow in my ability to adapt to the culture, be mentored by experienced, cross-cultural Gospel workers, and build relationships in order to share the Gospel. I’ll be participating in all of these activities so that I can continue to gain experience in what it means to serve long-term in an environment that may be hostile to the Gospel.
Why East Asia?
Last summer, the Lord gave me the amazing opportunity to go to East Asia as a participant in Frontline’s FX program, a missions training program designed to provide a realistic next step for those exploring long-term Gospel ministry in restricted-access countries. After completing the first step of the FX program, I began praying about what God would have me do next. Go back to East Asia? Stay here in the US? Move to some other location I had not yet considered? After praying about what God would have me do and seeking the counsel of mentors and family members, I am so glad to be continuing with the FX program by serving for the next two years in East Asia. I am excited to see the Gospel transform lives in East Asia just as it has and is transforming lives around the globe.
In late spring of 2018, I will be headed to Washington D.C. to take the CELTA course in order to get certified to teach English as a foreign language. This is an intensive language-training course but essential for my future work as a cross-cultural English teacher. Then in late August of 2018, I will depart for East Asia. By the time I depart, I need to raise $30,000. This will include the cost of all domestic and international flights, the CELTA course and living expenses while in Washington D.C., the cost of an intensive language program in East Asia, as well as insurance and all of the costs associated with setting up a home overseas. I’m praying that the first $5,000 of the $30,000 total will come in by January 31, 2018 in order to cover the cost of CELTA.
