Persecution Update June 2011: Indonesia
June 7th, 2011 by Frontline Missions
Indonesia, which is the largest Muslim country in the world, has seen an escalation in attacks against Christians this past year, primarily in West Java province. The government has made few attempts to stop the trend, which includes church burnings. Last February Antonius Bawengan was sentenced to five years in prison for Christian literature distribution, which allegedly insulted Islam. A mob of about 1,000 radical Muslims were not satisfied with the sentence so they attacked the courthouse and nearby churches. Pray that God will use what was meant for evil as a means of bringing Muslims to saving faith in Christ.
